The participating start-ups undertake a start-up journey in the GTL project. Starting with GTL bootcamps and extensive entrepreneurship training to presenting their business idea in international pitching events. In addition, the GTL start-ups are supported by an individual mentoring programme.

The project is establishing both local laboratories (labs) and a virtual European network to support green start-ups in structurally weak regions of Europe. In the project, advisory and training measures are developed transculturally and on the background of international examples of best practice. Climate protection and sustainability are to be improved through new technical solutions in order to promote the transition to low-emission economies. Another aspect is the development of new, local labour markets in order to use green potentials also to combat youth unemployment. The current Covid-19 crisis reinforces the need to develop new solutions in this area in particular.

Based on a virtual platform (www.greenteclab.org), support structures are being set up in local labs in four regions of Europe (Andalusia, Crete, Attica, Northern Slovakia) that are particularly affected by youth unemployment in order to support potential founders on the spot. A mobile hub offers the possibility to include other regions in all three countries.

The start-ups and projects are networked here with each other and with experts and sponsors.
Due to the current political situation, a substantive focus on the energy sector is to be established in the remaining project period. The project hopes for a project extension in order to be able to develop the potential of start-ups for this focus.
