The modernized training of electrical specialists for defined activities including “green modules”, developed in the GRÆDUCATION project and successfully launched in September 2018 at 17 EPAS schools, is currently attended by a total of 372 participants. Unfortunately, however, only 22 women are taking part, which corresponds to a percentage of only 6%. The project tries to motivate young women, because this modern education, which teaches skills in innovative future-oriented areas of “green technology” – photovoltaics, heat pump technology, wind power – offers women particularly good opportunities to obtain a high-quality job and to establish themselves successfully in the profession.

One of the main objectives of GRÆDUCATION is to open up manual professions to women. Together with OAED, the Greek equivalent of the Federal Employment Agency, and many Greek companies, ways are to be sought to attract more women to craft professions. The first Greek Girls Day, which was organised in the framework of GRÆDUCATION in Athens in June 2019 (more information about Girls Day can be found here) was a first step towards a conceptual approach in Greece. In 2020 there will be another Girls Day in Thessaloniki. Together with many schools, companies and the vocational training institutions in Greece it is being worked out how the approach can be integrated into the classroom.
